Die Erstellung in Verbindung mit Feedbacks aus dem Programm, erm\u00f6glicht es die eigenen Materialien anhand des Peer-Feedbacks zu evaluieren und die Qualit\u00e4t der eigenen Lehrmaterialien zu verbessern. It was what I really needed at that point in time.&#8220;<\/p>\n<cite><em><em>Prof. Dr. Eric Koenig<\/em><\/em><\/cite><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>By participating in the SMART vhb program and sharing his materials with fellow professors in the region, Professor Dr. Koenig is hoping to get one step closer to a dream of his \u2013 to bring the level of engineering classes up to par by sharing material, receiving feedback, recognizing what works and ultimately increasing continuity and quality.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Motivation to break new ground in teaching<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>Prof. Eric Koenig left his former employer as electrical engineer to join the world of academia in 2012. After his career change, Prof. Koenig began teaching Technical and Business English at TH N\u00fcrnberg in 2014. Fast forward to 2019, and Prof. Koenig is also the Academic Head of the Language Center. Over the course of 17 semesters here at TH N\u00fcrnberg, Prof. Koenig has developed numerous digitally supported as well as blended language courses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In 2018\/19 Prof. Koenig participated in the first round of the new SMART vhb program. Listen to his motivation in his own words:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-audio\"><audio controls src=\"https:\/\/leko.service.th-nuernberg.de\/portal-digitale-lehre\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/HerrKoenig_Dream.m4a\"><\/audio><figcaption class=\"wp-element-caption\">Prof. Koenig about his motivation to participate in the SMART vhb program<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Naturally, there were lessons learned while creating content for SMART vhb. Prof. Koenig acknowledges that a good plan is essential for success and to keep within the 12-month deadline. It is vital to keep in mind that the approach is not the same when you are preparing material for one\u2019s own course. Therefore, in Prof. Koenig\u2019s experience it is important to empathize with the others who will be using the material, keep their perspective in mind and create content that can be taken offline and implemented effectively.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In order to create interesting content which motivates and maintains the students\u2019 attention, Prof. Koenig chose to work with an online animation platform called Vyond (previously called Go Animate). Prof. Koenig was familiar with the easy-to-use software and noticed that his students enjoy watching cartoons. First of all, it provided the opportunity to evaluate each lesson more clearly, to define the learning objectives and think about how it is possible for the participants to reach the objectives.
